About Our Nomadic Journey

What is it that drives you? For us, it’s Our Nomadic Journey. As Sandy and I reached “middle age”, we determined that we were not living in our forever home, and in fact, had not yet found a city/town/place where we felt we could live out our days. Those thoughts began to mesh with the enjoyment we get from traveling, exploring new places, and trying new food.

As COVID concerns began to decline in the summer of 2021, we made the huge decision to sell our home, reduce our possessions, and embark on Our Nomadic Journey. We intend to slowly travel the globe, exploring as many places as we can, for as long as we feel healthy and safe enough to continue. Our objective is to spend enough time in each location that we don’t feel rushed and to get a real feel for life in the area. We will mix days of exploration with days at our temporary “home” to keep us from getting burnt out.

I plan to capture our thoughts of each location in this blog - our housing, some general costs, our impressions of each city, our challenges, and our mistakes. If we reach a point that we’re tiring of travel, or we feel like we’ve seen it all, perhaps we can read back through my posts to find our favorite place to settle down for a longer period of time. I don’t plan to include a large number of photos, but will instead post those with a summary of our ongoing activities on Facebook every 1-2 weeks.

We've started on this journey as a trio - Trevor, Sandy, and Gunner, our black lab.  To make travel with Gunner easier, we will travel by car, and will focus our travels in North America for the foreseeable future.
